I have been knitting quite a lot lately. Every year I end us spending much of January and Febraruy finishing up Christmas gifts that I didn't get done before the holiday. This is a pattern that I used for a few hats this year - I love it!! I would characterize it as "intermediate" because you have to keep up with the pattern or it won't turn out right.
It is a Four Color Tweed
Multiple of 6 sts + 2 (for the hat pictured I casted on 74 stitches)
Use four different colors (A, B, C, and D)
Foundation Row - Using A, purl
1st ROW: Using B, k1, *sl 2, k4; rep from * to last st, k1
2nd ROW: Using B, p1, k2, p2 sl2, *k2, p2, sl2; rep from * to last st, p1
3rd ROW: Using C, k3, sl2 *k4, sl 2; rep from * to last 3 st, k3
4th ROW: Using C, p3, sl2, k2, *p2, sl2, k2; rep from * to last st, p1
5th ROW: Using D, k5, sl2, * k4, sl2; rep from * to last st, k1
6th ROW: Using D, p1, * sl2, k2, p2; rep from * to last st, p1
7th and 8th ROWS: As 1st and 2nd rows, but using A instead of B
9th and 10th ROWS: As 3rd and 4th rows, but using B instead of C
11th and 12 th ROWS: As 5th and 6th rows, but using C instead of D
13th and 14th ROWS: As1st and 2nd rows, but using D instead of B
15th and 16th ROWS: As 3rd and 4th rows, but using A instead of C
17th and 18th ROWS: As 5th and 6th rows, but using B instead of D
19th and 20th ROWS: As 1st and 2nd rows, but using C instead of B
21st and 22nd ROWS: As 3rd and 4th rows, but using D instead of C
23rd and 24th ROWS: As 5th and 6th rows, but using A instead of D
Rep the last 24 rows
I simply cinched off the end.
